How to land your first shift
Welcome to Qwick! We're happy to have you onboard with us. We know the importance of snagging your first shift and want to ensure your success. Please review below some tips and tricks to get you started!
Note* your location permissions need to be set to "always on" for the app. You will be prompted to do this, but you will not be able to apply or confirm shifts without this setting.
Ensure your bio is completely filled out and detailed/organized. If the businesses know you have experience and are willing to get the job done, they will be more likely to select you. Some shifts are auto selected via an algorithm, which will also look for a completed bio.
Add all the hospitality experience you have.
Apply to every shift you can work, regardless of the pay rate. It's a bit of a numbers game at first, as the Qwick platform does have many amazing professionals, also applying for these shifts. Until a pro has some experience on the platform, they may not get selected for the higher pay shifts. The wider the net you cast, the better chance you will land one.
Be ready to confirm your selections quickly. Whether it's the algorithm or the business partner, there is often many professionals selected at once. The first pro to confirm, gets the shift. In order to ensure that's you - do make sure your app notifications are turned on.
Note: if another professional snags the shift before you get a chance to, it will disappear. If you haven't refreshed your page, it may still show as pending, but won't allow you to confirm. Please refresh your page and it will likely be gone and filled already.
Don't cancel your first shifts. While we understand life happens, cancelling confirmed shifts dramatically impacts your ability to work on the Qwick platform, especially cancellations within 24 hours of the start time. If you absolutely have to cancel for any reason, please connect with Qwick support.

Once you land those first couple of shifts, bring your most professional self and be ready to wow them! Businesses love familiar faces and are more likely to ask back people that work hard, show up in proper attire, and arrive on time. This will help ensure a 5 star rating, opening up even more opportunities for you.
