Minimum Pay & Shift Cancellation Policy

Edited

This article explains when you qualify for minimum pay and how compensation works if a shift is canceled or ends early.

When Do I Qualify for Minimum Pay?

You will be paid for the length of the original shift (up to four hours) if either of the following occurs:

1. Shift Canceled Within 24 Hours

A business cancels a shift you elected to work within 24 hours of the shift’s scheduled start time.

2. Sent Home Early (No Fault of Your Own)

You arrive on time and meet all shift expectations, but the business no longer needs assistance and sends you home early.

In these situations, minimum pay protections apply.

How Minimum Pay Is Calculated

Shifts Scheduled for 4 Hours or More

Professionals will receive a minimum of four (4) hours of pay for the scheduled shift.

Shifts Scheduled for Less Than 4 Hours

Professionals will be compensated for the full duration of the scheduled shift.

What If I Work More Than 4 Hours?

If you have worked more than four (4) hours and are then sent home early, you will be compensated for the actual hours worked only.

Minimum pay protections apply only up to four hours.

When Is Minimum Pay Forfeited?

Minimum payments do not apply if you are sent home for failing to meet shift requirements.

This may include, but is not limited to:

  • Arriving late

  • Wearing incorrect attire

  • Failing to perform required job duties

  • Not meeting shift expectations

If dismissal is due to performance or policy issues, minimum pay protections will not apply.
